Beehive Unveils New Bee-Chive Cheddar for Spring 2026
Beehive Unveils New Bee-Chive Cheddar for Spring 2026
Beehive Cheese is kicking off 2026 with a spring mood—right in the middle of winter. The Utah creamery is rolling out “Bee-Chive,” a rubbed-rind cheddar with lively onion-and-garlic energy, making its first industry appearance at the Winter Fancy Food Faire in San Diego (Jan. 10–12). It’s the tenth cheddar in Beehive’s flagship rubbed-rind collection, and a notable milestone for a brand that’s made flavor rubs its calling card.

A Springtime Cheese… in January
Bee-Chive reads like a friendly pub snack meets farmers’ market optimism. It’s savory and tangy with a bright aromatic lift—enough to wake up a tired palate, but balanced enough to drop onto a sandwich without thinking twice. Beehive positions it as its spring seasonal release, available nationwide starting January 2026, with distribution and wholesale already open and direct-to-consumer orders going live on January 12.
The Pairing Angle
If there’s a theme here, it’s versatility with personality. Bee-Chive plays well with:
- Hoppy and malt-forward beers (IPA, Belgian-style, amber ales)
- Crisp whites (pinot gris, chardonnay)
- Prosciutto, caramelized onion jam, roasted vegetables, apples, buttermilk biscuits, and yes—hand-cut potato chips
Boards, après-ski snacks, weeknight cooking—Bee-Chive is positioned to do a little of everything. It fits the ongoing industry trend toward mix-and-match cheese occasions: casual, pairing-friendly, and restaurant-adjacent.
Retail & Foodservice Details
Formats will include 2/5 lb. quarter wheels (catch weight) and 4-oz exact-weight wedges packed 10 per case. Harmons Grocery is giving Bee-Chive an early push as its January Cheese of the Month, and Beehive will be sampling aggressively throughout the Fancy Food Faire.
Why It Matters
Rubbed-rind cheddars continue to carve out space between specialty and everyday—reliable for shoppers, interesting for beverage buyers, and flexible for kitchens. Bee-Chive hits that sweet spot: approachable, snack-ready, and just cheeky enough for spring menus.
If the winter show floor needed a little lift, Beehive just brought the sunshine—complete with onion and garlic.
