A Little Taste of Italy, the Calabro Way

Rooted in Connecticut and inspired by Italian cheesemaking traditions, Calabro has been bringing the flavors of Italy to American tables since 1953. What began with a simple goal — sharing the warmth, passion, and authentic taste of Italian cheese — has grown into a lineup built for both traditional recipes and everyday cooking.

A few cheeses worth highlighting include Calabro Burrata, a fresh cheese with a delicate mozzarella-style exterior and a rich, creamy center filled with shredded mozzarella. Its fresh, milky flavor and indulgent texture make it an easy favorite for everything from tomato salads and crostini to pizza and cheese boards. Served at room temperature with olive oil, sea salt, and ripe tomatoes, it’s hard to argue with burrata’s ability to make a simple plate feel instantly special.

Mozzarella di Bufala offers a slightly different experience. Made with water buffalo milk, it has a soft, delicate texture and a richer, slightly tangy flavor than traditional mozzarella. Fresh out of the package, it is right at home with tomatoes and basil in a Caprese salad, but it also brings plenty to gourmet pizzas and antipasto spreads.

Then there’s Ricotta, a classic that proves versatility never goes out of style. Calabro offers both Hand-Dipped Ricotta, with a creamy, spoonable texture, and Impastata Ricotta, which is smoother and denser for baking and pastry applications. From lasagna and pasta to pancakes, cheesecake, cannoli, or simply spread on toast, ricotta can move comfortably from savory to sweet.

These are just a few selections from Calabro’s broader lineup, but they offer a taste of the brand’s approach: Italian-inspired cheeses made with plenty of tradition, versatility, and a place at the modern American table.
