Wood River Creamery: The Pioneer of Cheddar Gruyere

What happens when two beloved cheese styles come together? Wood River Creamery turned that idea into something entirely its own, pioneering the original Cheddar Gruyere and building a lineup of cheeses with plenty of character. Crafted in small batches by Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers, these cheeses are aged in limited quantities to develop their signature sweet and nutty notes.

The Original Cheddar Gruyere started it all, but the collection has grown into a lineup of distinctive flavors and combinations, each with its own personality:

  • Original Alpine Style – Created by Wood River Creamery’s Master Cheesemaker, this one-of-a-kind cheese offers an original take on Alpine-style cheesemaking.
  • Black Truffle – Aromatic and rich, with an indulgent truffle character that makes it a natural fit for gourmet pasta.
  • Mango Habanero – A delicate combination of sweetness and heat gives this cheese a lively kick.
  • Chipotle Garlic – Southwestern-inspired chipotle and garlic bring bold character to chicken or steak fajitas.
  • Smoked Cracked Peppercorn – Smoky notes and cracked peppercorn create a rich, savory experience.
  • Roasted Red Pepper & Cracked Peppercorn – Pleasant sweetness gives way to savory spice for a balanced finish.
  • Northwoods Cheddar – A creamy, handcrafted Cheddar with full flavor and a smooth finish.
  • Herbs de Provence – An award-winning cheese layered with savory herbs, equally enjoyable on its own or incorporated into Italian dishes.
  • Triple Pepper – Mild, nutty, creamy and slightly sweet, followed by jalapeño, chipotle and a lingering habanero finish.
  • Gouda Gruyere – Creamy Gouda meets the nutty, sharper character of Gruyere in this flavorful blend.

From the cheese that started it all to a lineup filled with bold additions, Wood River Creamery puts a fresh spin on familiar cheese traditions—one masterfully made combination at a time.
